My name is Andy Birdwell and I'm a freelance web designer / front-end developer living in Birmingham, AL. I specialize in user-friendly, thoughtfully designed, standards-compliant websites. With over four years experience in an agency environment, the time was ripe for me to venture out on my own.

Prior to becoming a web designer, I played guitar in a variety of bands, traveled around riding a skateboard and did a little freelance work for the TransWorld Media family of magazines, writing reviews, conducting interviews and commenting on skateboard related websites.

I am inspired by:

Nicole, my friends, insomnia, turning three chords into pure magic, urethene rolling beneath my feet, staring at an amazing piece of art with equal parts jealousy and admiration, a picture-perfect cast, a picture-perfect drive, snapping an imperfect picture and reading biographies, because truth is stranger than fiction.

Skills:

XHTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript (JQuery, YUI, MooTools etc.), AJAX , Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, ActionScript 2.0/3.0 and WordPress. Experience working with Joomla!, Drupal, PHP and ASP.NET.
